Domain onboarding system prompt for an agent entering a new specialized area
Write a system prompt that onboards an agent to operate correctly in new_domain, given it was previously general-purpose. The prompt should:
1. Establish domain-specific terminology the agent must use precisely (list the terms and their exact meaning in this domain, especially terms that mean something different in general usage than in this domain).
2. State the domain's non-negotiable constraints (regulatory, safety, or business rules) as hard rules, separated clearly from softer stylistic preferences, so the model doesn't treat a compliance requirement with the same weight as a tone preference.
3. Give 2-3 worked examples of a request in this domain and the correct handling, chosen specifically to illustrate a rule that's easy to get wrong (not a trivial example that would be obvious anyway).
4. State what the agent should do when a request falls outside what these onboarding materials cover: default to caution and ask/escalate, not extrapolate from general knowledge, since domain-specific edge cases are exactly where general knowledge is most likely to be wrong.
5. Keep it structured so a domain expert (not a prompt engineer) could review and correct it.
